When the truth is revealed in itself a great scene! Rather than throw in a lot of unnecessary angst about the reveal Ms. Cerny has taken the more realistic approach. During the course of the shut down they get to know one another via text, FaceTime and phone. Not too explicit. This was a short steamy story with all the feels. Van loves Laurel in an over-the-moon way which is so sweet. What did I like? I really enjoyed the authors writing flair and originality and I can tell that this novel feels personal to the author and I appreciated that. The book started strongly for me I loved the laugh out loud comedy moments and nerdy tv, film, comic references. To begin with I loved the heroine I never been kissed book review summary like she was a character that I would grow to love, that did change somewhat as the book progressed but I appreciated the authors ability to cast a character in her novel that wasn't the usual perfect ten.
One of the shining moments of the book was when sera would spend time with her best friend mainly because she was a loveable character with plenty of common sense and like-ability, another secondary character that I cant help but mention is Hunters son, Matty he was a shining star amongst the pages full of drama and I loved the relationship that grew between himself and sera. Overall this was a book that I desperately wanted to love but I think it delivered more drama and angst than I expected rather than comedy and romance. The parts that I did love about the book made me swoon and smile and I'm sure I won't be forgetting this novel and this author for a little while to come.
Why not five? This book had bags of potential, I loved the idea of the storyline in fact the instant I saw the blurb for this book I hoped it would be my kind of book. Initially I fell hard and fast for the quirky sweet nature of this novel.

The nerd references and inexperienced heroine won me over but as the book progressed I started to feel like I was conflicted over the mixed themes. On the one hand it was a sumkary delight with a heroine who needed to start to find herself coupled bfen a damaged hero and his son with heart breaking difficulties, but it it also had a reoccurring sad undertone that as the book developed it repeatedly dragged me out of the enjoyment factor. One of my main complaints was my irritation with the heroine, unfortunately I struggled a little with her never ending self loathing, in my opinion it was stretched a little thin and although I understood her struggles I would have liked to have seen less self hatred.
The hero didn't win me over completely either I waited anxiously for him to make changes or grab some backbone but his character never fully appealed to me. With both of the characters there were moments where I enjoyed reading about them and loved never been kissed book review summary the author was taking the story but sadly the annoying moments over ruled any out and out love for them both. I desperately wanted the author to change tactic and make me love this couple fiercely but sadly that didn't quite happen for me.
Final thoughts Rarely do I feel conflicted over rating a book, normally I find my feelings straight forward but I found myself unsure of how I felt at the end of this novel. There were parts of the book that felt five star standard and other parts that sadly made me feel like throwing out my kindle. This debut author obviously has a lot to offer the writing world and I'm glad that I picked up 'never been kissed' and gave the story the chance that it deserved. I loved the beginning of the storytelling and the end of the novel swept me away but sadly there was read more many annoyances and irritating moments for me to feel comfortable handing out five stars. I really really really liked Sera. But damn did that girl get on my last freaking nerve sometimes. The only thing that really annoyed me was the bad editing. That really needs to be fixed.
