The utter insipidity, the fundamental mediocrity of this, coupled with the fact that not only Random bought it, but Netflix made a film of it, and that millions of teens fell for it, gives me a major fright. This book- this book was a mess to the point where I would legitimately tear it apart had it not been on my kindle. When you hear a bookworm saying that they would tear apart a book, that's your cue to leave this forever in the dusty not picked up pile.
Honestly, this whole book was just making out, screaming at each other, fighting, and characters acting like all around stereotypical abusive teenagers. To put it simply. So you're got a shaky foundation. To add to that, I found quite a f Oh dear. To add to that, I found quite a few typos and grammatical errors, and the author's writing style wasn't good to begin with. So we're just going to talk about why this is problematic. Basically, Noah's been going around telling boys that he'll hurt them if they ask Elle on a date. Not to mention the fact that he's threatening assault on people who did absolutely nothing. And that also plays a big theme throughout the book, but that's definitely not in the way it should. I'm not sure this could've gotten any more shallow. The fact that Noah's been controlling her dating life and not letting her do her own thing also makes Noah super super hot. There were also moments when Noah would force Elle into making out or doing whatever else when she had clearly said kiasing. And that is a big no-no. N-O Noah. Can you say it with me? Since it's quite obviously this book has shown he has no idea what the meaning of that word is. I'm not even going to begin to dive into these shallow, self obsessed characters and this cringe-worthy writing, but to put it shortly, they were awful.
Long story short, I hated this book and will never recommend it to anyone unless of course they're looking for a book to compete with their least favorite book. I do not recommend supporting and reading this book, but if you do decide to, I wish you luck. You will most definitely need it, fellow reading comrade. Signing off for now, thanks for reading! A 17 year old to be exact and she actually wrote it unlike just slapping her name on it like the trainwreck which was Girl Online. The story here is simple — girl and boy Elle and Lee have been best friends literally since their birth on the same day, in the same hospital. Elle, a high school junior, is back from the summer haze that turned her into a beautiful young woman. And little did she knew that she caught the eye of every guy in her school. Tye unaware of that fact, she went on with her days with her next-door-neighbor-cum-best-friend, Lee. Lee is a childish kind of guy, who protected Elle like his own sister, practically, they acted like twin siblings as they were born on the same day and at the exact same time. So together, they plan a Kissing Booth for charity on their school's spring carnival. But to Elle's surprise, who has never been kissed before, found herself kissing the guy whom she had a crush on like forever, and that is, Lee's older brother, Noah.
Now Elle and Lee made a bunch of childish friendship rules when they were kids, so dating or kissing or sleeping with Noah would be big no-no for Elle and Lee's friendship. The author's writing style is okay, not that great. The plot lacks emotions, hence the readers will fail to connect with the characters and their emotions. The dialogues are crappy and way too cheesy, no one, especially, no teenager now talk or communicate in this fashion ever. For realistic dialogues, refer to the book, 13 Reasons Why. As a whole, the story is "too been there, done that" kind, it's a very common story, when a girl is falling for her best friend's brother.
But what the book lacked strongly was the true essence of friendship and its gopdreads between Elle and Lee, instead of shedding too much light on the immature teenagish love story between Elle and Noah. The characters are not at all close to reality, they lack honesty in their demeanor. I felt like reading about a bunch of fashion models who happen to be fictional. So many elements and layers lacked in this book, especially the cast of parental characters, who are supposed to play a strong role in the life of these teenagers, and the transition the kissing booth goodreads characters pictures printable having a mother to having no mother in the life of Elle is pathetically depicted in the book. Like I said, the characters lacked to show any kind of emotion, only teenagers action high on their hormones. I found that a few lines between the two were shared, which made me super excited. Rachel steps up to kiss Lee. Lee and Rachel leave the booth in Elle's hands as they enjoy the fair. At the last second, the student waves Noah ahead. Noah kisses the blindfolded Elle, and when she lifts her blindfold and sees Noah in front of her, they kiss again in front of the whole school. Cleaning up the booth, Elle is upset to see Noah flirting with another girl. Noah offers her a ride on his motorcycle, but the rain forces them to take shelter in a park gazebo.
Elle kisses Noah and tells him she cannot be just another sexual conquest. Hurt, Noah reveals he has feelings for her.
